Our 50th Reunion has come and gone.   It was a very special weekend and class members rejoiced at being around 50 years after getting their MBA's.   Looking at the class photo taken at the dinner the class has, like good wine, aged well.

There have been some wonderful letters of thanks  which are greatly appreciated.

Here is the link to the photos taken at the Reunion.

Please print those you need.   Please send Lindsay any suitable photos you have taken and we will add them to this online 50th Reunion  Album.

The videos of the  dinner as well as Bob's short video are available in the links below.  There is a short highlights video as well as a longer video which includes Nic Rabinowitz's  performance.

Do yourself a favour. Pour yourself a nice drink and stream the long video to your flatscreen TV.  Nics performance is amazing  and  in some respects is even  better on film.  You are going to have a big laugh all over again.  Enjoy and remember our wonderful 50th Reunion.

UPDATE ON GSB FOUNDATION

Apr 18, 2018

The purpose of this note is to update you on the Alumni Challenge Fund  which has now evolved into The GSB Foundation. The Foundation is fully operational and is being run by MD Peter Wingrove who is well supported by Linda Fasham. Full details of the Foundation are on its website at www.gsbfoundation.org.za

We are seeing a higher purpose for the Foundation and that is to rapidly increase the number of black MBAS who will be able to go into business but also into government and the parastatals  like Eskom , SAA and SABC ,  which are in desperate need of talented managers.   Currently there are very few black  MBAS in the country largely because of cost and lack of bursaries.   Hopefully the impact will over time be like the “Chicago Boys”  from Chile who  many years ago were sent to  US universities and business schools and a very large  percentage   became cabinet ministers building Chile into the best run economy in S.America.   This should be  a powerful vision for  GSB Alumni.

Report Back

Apr 17, 2018

The 2014 reunion of the GSB class of 69 has come and gone. For those who were not there you missed something special. We were blessed with perfect weather for the braai and lunches and the presence of our amazing Prof Boland added to the occasion. Fine food,  fine wines and excellent company were enjoyed by all and thanks were given to the sponsors.

The lecture programme aroused great interest in the new direction of the school and the initial financial support   for the Alumni Challenge Fund  was very positively  received by  Prof Baets , the current director.

We plan to keep this site operational as an ongoing communication channel for class members.. Please do add photos and comment to your section  especially if you have not yet done so.Its so easy to do. Just Google gsb69  and you will get to the login page.

Please follow the following links to see photos and video footage of the reunion. There are great pictures and footage. Prof Bolands speech is a classic and he has not  changed  despite his 88 years. Thrilling that he was there.
